Mine is reserved for my Saturday mornings. Schick type G and Chubby 3 Best. Soaps tend to rotate, but this combination of razor and brush has become my relaxing shave ritual.

As a minimalist I shave with the same razor and brush every time , I have been getting into the seasonal soaps though and that is fun.

The question is interesting — to me less in its literal sense — for the suggestion that certain occasions (weekly or not, regularly occurring or not) trigger certain habitual behavior in males of A Certain Age.

For me, it is not so much a razor/brush combination as it is a specific shaving soap.

Over the past few months, for whatever rational excuse I might conjure, I have found myself reaching for the Wholly Kaw Fougère Bouquet (donkey milk special edition) every Sunday morning.  I am more or less a Mystic Water/Haslinger Schafmilch loyalist, but I have other soaps in the cabinet that I take out for one-morning flings.  Those are irregular whims, but Wholly Kaw has wormed its way into the rotation for regular weekly stands; Sunday morning (and no other time) is the time that I use the Wholly Kaw.

Irrational?  Guilty as charged.

You all are too organized.  I decide what I am going to use about 30 seconds before I use it.

Hi Dave, I've fished, and hunted alot around Sweethome. It's God's country up there and on the plus side it's not far from Eugene. How do the early Schick Injectors shave?, and how do you date them age wise?.

that's a tough question.  it took a lot of looking on this site and badger and blade but there are some experts there.  I would just post a threat on single edge razor and ask if someone can direct you.  they have pictures on a couple and a lot of comprehensive data. yep, it is beautiful here I just was in Eugene Thursday. wife has relatives there. I actually don't prefer the older ones but still use a couple of shave a year.  seem to draw blood with me.

I use an adjustable that was made between 1965-68, and it gives pretty good shaves. I wish the handle had better grip to it. It get's hard to hold when wet.

Same here. It takes longer sometimes. Too many products, I can't decide easily.

For hardware I decide pretty much right on the spot. The brush usually depends on the soap (synthetic or natural), and the razor is 50/50 depending on the aggression I need.

But for soaps, I usually plan ahead at least so far as to choose one soap for the week. Gives me a chance to dial back in a soap since the first go is sometimes a toss-up for getting the optimal lather!
