Picked up 2 tubes of Aqua Velva Sensitive 5 in 1 After Shave Balm.  I never tried it, but have been wanting to.  They were on clearance at the Walgreens near me for $3.49 a tube.  I am sure they will work out nice.

A find on the internet classified ads. A vintage Seto Marujyu shaving scuttle in excellent condition. Just in time for winter. Pictured with one of my favorite barber style brushes.

Tim,

That's a great scuttle. Is it porcelain or hard rubber? I would love to find one like that in plastic or rubber.

... and I recently got a similar couple of brushes myself!

I had juuuust finished polishing the one on the left and the one on the right arrived at my door. An Adoration like yours and a Merit.

Thanks, it is porcelain. I wonder which will win the war, scuttle or granite countertop. Very cool brushes. I call the Handel spinach Bakelite. Especially love the R-400 style on the Merit. Did you reknot the Adoration? I redid mine about 8 years ago

Yes. Well, not totally done yet really.

That badger knot in the picture is just sitting there for the time being.

I ordered three different knots. The original knot came out very easily. I just couldn't decide between two or three band badger or boar. Only have one knot on hand yet to test fit.

Spinach is about right though. I'm really surprised at the sight of it up close. It's translucent to a degree and as I look from different angles I can see the striations fairly deep. I've never owned a vintage brush quite like these. They're much more substantial and hefty than the Rubberset 200. The ferrule on the Adoration is very sturdy. Obviously the lower portion is solid, but I was surprised by the sheer size and heft of it when I first held it.

I hope your countertop and scuttle both get along amicably.

Does you wife have any equally generous sisters - preferably in the Minneapolis/St. Paul 7 county mosquito district.

Nice, Luis. I have always enjoyed his special edition soaps, whenever I've been able to get them.
