The flying mango is a great soap that I will continue to use.  Produces quick, creamy lather.  But, I still get the best shaves with Czech and Speake soaps.

Gents,

Just wanted to bump this to the top. I have two pucks, and I was thinking about adding one of them to the rotation this week.

Are there any more recent thoughts? I am particularly interested in hearing about residual slickness if anyone has any input!

Thanks!

I only have the 4.3 version, and they are some of the best soaps I have ever tried. The slickness and cushion and post shave are all top notch. The residual slickness is particularly impressive. The scents are also masterfully done so if I were you, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on one of these soaps.

S V  soaps are truly outstanding..follow the makers suggestion for making the lather. He says to cover the puck with a film of hot water for a few minutes. The what i do is soak up the water with the brush. Swirl the brush for 20 seconds and face lather hard. A silky luxurious lather. I have never cut myself with the Rocca razor i mostly use. Super close after 2 passes. Superb soap in every way.

As far as residual slickness, I think that the beta 4.3 soaps will offer a high standard for residual slickness. It has been a bit since I have shaved with Flying Mango but almost every shave I do use mango butter on top of the other SV soaps and use mango butter because applying my aftershave.

Let us know how your next shave goes!

Will do guys! I think I will do it Friday...my pal reminded me that I have a tub of the Adp cream I forgot that I had, and didn’t try yet...so I have to hit that first, and will use the flying mango Friday!

Simple things to look forward to...love it!

Alright...where do I begin with this soap!?!?!? I can immediately say is that I am blown away! This soap produced gobs of beautiful lather that was extremely slick and protective. It is without a doubt very high end/top tier, and I give it my highest recommendation.

I liked it so much I am tossing around the idea of purchasing another puck or two since I only have two right now.

The shave was beautiful, the results BBS with zero weepers or irritation, and the post shave feel is second to none.

The tools I used were my Semogue TSN LE boar brush, Flying Mango Soap, Doug Smith lather bowl, my Circa 1965 Gillette Superspeed Flair Tip w/a feather blade, and I finished it off with Stirling Baker Street Aftershave! Just one of those shaves where you think afterward.... “Damn...that was amazingly superb!”

Final note for all the folks that wanted this fragrance in an aftershave...no need...just pair it with Stirling Baker Street Aftershave. The two scents are very close, and highly highly complimentary!

I hope that everyone has a great rest of the weekend!

I would also recommend to consider another SV soap - Opuntia.

Thanks! Perhaps I will get that instead of another that I already have in the stacks!

Opuntia and 70th have similar seats to my nose so I would figure asking first. The best way I can describe the smell of Opuntia is citrus, sharp or distinct floral notes, and some musk/spice. Performance in my opinion is probably the best that SV has come out with. Many people find Opuntia to have similar facets as Creed Aventus.

Do you guys bloom the puck with warm or hot water first? SV suggests this to get the best performance, and I must agree. If anyone thinks their fav soap is good,  they should try SV soaps.!

I bloomed it with very hot water, hopped into the shower, dumped the bloom water into a cup, loaded the brush, and whipped up the lather in the bowl. Whenever I felt the need to add water, I used the bloom water. This method produced magnificent results for me.

I also want to harp on the residual slickness, and the post shave feel...top marks all around! Bullgoose Shaving and SV hit a homerun here!

I have the Flying Mango on order....can't wait to add it to the collection(all )of SV soaps. If you have not tried SV, you REALLY need to try Saponificio Varesino…...it's THAT good.... Number_one
