A few days ago, after spending a week using a Gillette Fat Boy loaded with a Personna Blue, I decided to give my Merkur 34C HD a try with the same blade. The results were not what I had hoped or expected, so mid-shave I loaded the same blade in a 1955 Diplomat and was wowed by the shave. It was so smooth that I was convinced that I had found the sweet-spot. Today I realized that I had not. Today, using a GSB in the Diplomat, I found better.
I look forward to loading up a Astra SP, a Feather, and a Derby in the Diplomat to find a winner. After that, I want to continue to find the matches for each of my razors.

What sweet-spots have you discovered along the way?

Second shave on a Feather with a Blackbird SB.
Blackbird or Evolution Model T with an Astra.

Every shave with a Rockwell will surprise how good a shave can get.

I would say a Gillette Platinum in a Muhle R41. I should mention that for me, I consider a Personna Blue in a Merkur 34C to be an excellent combo....just not quite as excellent as the Gillette/Muhle for me.

I’ve settled on a four blade rotation, but do sometimes use other blades too.

To answer the OP, in no particular order, my preferred combinations are; Med Preps in a prewar Tech, Israeli Personnas in Red Tip, and finally the Black Oxide Evolution, standard plate with either of the above blades or a Lab Blue or a Crystal. The Evolution seems less dependent on blade choice. It works great with every blade I’ve tried.

I haven't written the combo off, as I become better acquainted with the different razors, I'll re-access different combinations.

Asylum Rx + Kai Mild...

I am back to this setup after a few weeks of working with some new razors.  A BBS is almost too easy with this setup. Smooth, comfortable, close.

Mergress with Polsilver SI

Will rotate periodically with GSB, Voskhod, Nacet, 7 O'Clock, Astra, Feather - but predominately Polsilver

I've "back-shelved" my ATT, R41, DE89, 34C and several others, finding my Mergress really meets all my needs/wants.

Rockwell 6S (3-6 plates) w/GSB, 7 O'Clock Yellow, or Nacet. Hard to go wrong with St. Petersburg blades.

Except when I'm having skin sensitivity issues. Then it's Feather AS-D2 with a Feather blade.

After over a half century of shaving I gotta say few shaves really amaze me yet surprisingly there have been quite a streak of "wow" moments lately.

What really amazed me is how great so many of the less expensive modern razors are; ones like the Weishi 9306 series and the Baili Tech clones and the Ming Shi 200S and the RazoRock Old Type and the razors from Fatip.  Maybe one of the biggest surprises has been how nice the Occam's Razor turned out to be.

Well, after almost 2 months of experimentation, I believe I might be settling in on The NEW, preferig tue Short Comb over the Long Comb.

How bout a list of the also-rans? (I presume that's reflected in your BST). I need to give the SC a shot, I've tried pretty much everything else.
