Could anyone give some other brushes that are packed with hair and have the density of this brush. Here lately it’s the only thing I grab for. I own two in Best, one Somerset, and one that I imagine recently was made because of the GB sticker. It even has got my keeping my other Simpsons such as the Classic, Chubby 1 and Colonel X2Lon the shelf. Ion scared of purchasing anything else at the moment because I have gotten used to how dense this brush feels. This morning even I was using my X2L and had to switch to the Duke because the X2L just was lacking and felt floppy. Does anyone have any advice for other brushes that might have the same feel.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  Use your Duke 3's and enjoy them.  I have owned a lot of Simpson brushes over the years and my two favorites were the Duke 3 and Chubby 2.  Both meet your requirements.

It's too bad there are no Rooney 3/1 or 1/2 Super's on the market any more. I think they would have worked for you at a similar price to the Duke 3.

Johnny,

I wish I would have saw when you posted your Duke and Chubby for sale. I know someone got a great bargain.

I am assuming yours is Best hair. Correct?
I am fortunate to have a Duke 3 in two band. It is a lifetime keeper. The D3 is a great size and feels quite nice in hand.

I recall having a D3 in Best, and yes, the Epsilon is rather close for feel.

The Simpson 56 or 57 are good bets for similar density to the Duke 3. You can scale up or down depending on your size preference within the Fifty series.

+1 I have tried many brushes of various hair types including many types of Simpson in Best and the Duke 3 and Chubby 2 are my favorites.

In this image there is an old 46 butterscotch next to a 57  with a Duke 2 on the far left.

I own the following Simpson brushes:  Chubby 2 (best), Chubby 2 (synthetic), Duke 3 (2 band), Commodore 3 (best), Classic 2 (best).  Nothing compares to the Chubby 2 in terms of density.  It is truly a unique shaving experience, one that all wet shavers should try.

If you want a handle similar in size to the Duke 3, the Epsilon brushes in either 2 or 3 band are excellent.  Epsilons are quite dense.

I'll second the 50 series, the 57 and 58.

One other brush to consider is the Simpson Phyl P8. It was a Shavenook limited edition, so not up for general sale, but you can find them on BST, and there is one for sale now in fact. That’s how I got mine, and I would say the knot is very close to a D3.
