Well my name is Rich, live in Florida started wet shaving about 13 months ago. Just started trying soaps. Mike's Barbershop is awesome. Bought Mystic Waters and having difficulty lathering. I use DE EJ and iKon razors. I also use a scuttle and have several brushes.

Welcome! Hope you can introduce yourself to the forum here.

Yes,I noticed that too and I have done it in the past. Now I do like you.

Question about loading brush direct from a cream tub....does the constant dipping with a wet brush weaken the cream or dilute the cream? Or are you loading a dry brush and mixing in a Bowl?

Welcome Rich to The Shave Nook. You can spoon some shave cream into a bowl and make lather with your brush. Add a slight amount of water to the bowl as necessary. Practice makes perfect.

Rich, welcome to The Shave Nook.

If I'm using a soft cream like Simpsons, I dab a damp brush in the cream, just enough to cover the tip, then I build my lather in a bowl/scuttle and add water as needed.

If using a tube cream, I just squeeze out an almond size portion of cream in the bowl/scuttle and start mixing with a damp brush, adding water as needed.

If using a hard soap, I swirl the tips of the damp brush on the surface of the hard soap for about 25-40 seconds then start mixing in the bowl/scuttle as I do with the creams above.

It's great to have you in the Nook!

I am a brush dipper/swirler in cream tubs. Cream is soap with more water (sure there's probably more difference but go with me). A little extra water should just help you to lather up a bit quicker next time. Tongue
