Norwegians are pragmatic people, using simple and direct communication. We don't mean to be rude - we're just straightforward and don't waste time with pointless chitchat Tongue

PS: Y'all might want to peek at https://thesocialguidebook.no/blogs/the-...-to-norway - no connection to me, other than the fact that my Better Half found their books invaluable in understadning Norwegians...

LOL!

One should add that we prefer not to talk at all, and spend most of our time either indoors in the company of ourselves and family or in the great and, importantly, sparsely populated outdoors. Or so the stereotype has it anyway!

UK English:
"Excuse me sir, you appear to be on your cell phone and weaving into my lane"

US English: "F**k you!"

My mother's parents came directly from Norway.  My mother was not a person of few words.

As a child, I recall her telephone conversations.  I wondered if she did 100% of the talking or they both talked at the same time.

She might have been from Bergen - they talk when breathing both out and in Wink

This is quite difficult to do. Not impossible, but quite difficult.
