...i read where Lawrence of Arabia used carbolic soap to shave during his time in the middle east........
..........so i purchased some........ and used it to shave this morning.... and it works fairly well......
....... you have to load up your brush a fair bit.... but it lathers well, and leaves a good feel on the face afterwards..........

Very interesting.  Carbolic soap shaving.  Now that's kicking it old school.

Interesting. How does it compare to your regular shaving soaps?

I had never heard of (let alone tried) carbolic soap, so I read the Wiki page.  Fascinating.  Thanks for mentioning it.  I'd be interested in trying it just out of curiosity.

It would make sense to use carbolic soap for field shaving, given its antiseptic quality.  Soldiers used to get nasty infections shaving in the field.  I've heard it was a notable cause of death in the U.S. Civil War.

...i find it to be very close to some of the shaving soaps that i have in regards to lathering....
....as i mentioned, you do have to load up your brush...
.....also, there is the scent...it has a strong 'antiseptic' scent..... which i like, but might be a turn off to some...
.............and i like the face feel afterwards.....
.......after thinking about it, Arko maybe its close cousin...

Which brand did you use? At boarding school we used Lifebuoy when it was a carbolic soap still. I like the smell of carbolic soap, but I never thought to shave with it; must give it a try.
