Last month I bought an Eplison 2 band from a member on here in a relative chubby style handle I’d say. The first couples times I’ve used it it’s left my face feeling somewhat raw. However, it’s a lathering machine to say the least. My question is are there any soft 2 band brushes out there that all’s have the quality of softness? I’ve though if getting a Dhavemac 2 band non D01 as I hear the D01 has the scratch but that the 2 band silvertio doesn’t. Thoughts? Would a Chubby 2 Manchurian have to much scratch in your opinion for someone with a sensitive face?

I'm no expert, but I've always been led to believe that people looking for a bit more backbone in a badger brush might go down the 2 Band route.

Maybe you might be better suited with a Silvertip, or, dare I say it a Synthetic.

Look at Elite Razor brushes. 2 or 3 band.

The thing is do the Thater brushes have backbone. I’ve thought about the 4125 2 band size 3 28mm, but always wondered about backbone of these.

Second this suggestion. Fantastic brushes.
If you want more backbone get a bit lower loft.

Consider:

1.  The Thater 4125 series in two-band.

2.  Bob Quinn's Manchurian White knots in one of his custom handles.

Both will give you a nice balance of softness and backbone.

2 band regular or 2 band silvertip for Thater in your mind?

You expressed a desire for backbone, so the two-band would be the way to go.

And the 2-band regular would be soft? I might go with it and if I don’t like it just sell it.

It seemed the 2 band eplison was the first brush I’ve ever used and loaded enough soap to get an amazing lather with the hard water I have. I’ve always heard more soap for hard water and this brush worked wonders, but the scritch was to much.

A two-band unique density Shavemac is my softest brush, followed closely by my Saponificio Varesino. The SV has a bit more backbone, both fantastic choices.

The 26mm Thater 4125 is set to a loft of 55mm.  It's soft and has medium backbone.  It's definitely softer than the Epsilon two-band and has no scritch.

Beautiful brush Mike. And also Ricardo, do you think the 28mm would be to much or would you personally go for the 26mm?

Tony, in the 4125 I prefer the 26mm, but the 28mm is also a great knot. I just prefer the  slightly  shorter handle on the 26mm.

You are referring to the 2 band silver tip right Ricardo. Do they make a 2 band non silvertip. And as someone else mentioned would a finest 2 band silvertip be better. So many questions, sorry guys.

As far as I know, all the Thater 4125 two-bands are the same hair, although they may be referred to as two-band silvertip, two-band badger, or two-band super.  You can see them all here:

Thanks for the clarification Ricardo. Seems depending on the vendor some list as 2- band super, 2 band finest silvertip, 2 band silvertip. But like you said, I imagine they are all the same.
