Everyone has their holy grail items, everyone has things they want... but some of you out there are beyond wanting,... if your like me you are activly hunting down one or two things you simply MUST have

for me a BOTOC member on the other thread posted a pic of an old gillette razor holder that had three blade slots and two spots for blade packs... was so cool i went to ebay to find one immediatly,.... but couldnt see one, so the hunt is on

anyone else actively hunting down an item,... again i want to know if you are actually out there hunting it, this is beyond need or want.... this is looking with intent to buy

i thought maybe we could have a place to share and cheer when we get our new hard to find item

and who knows maybe other members could help each other out

Happy Hunting Gentleman.

well, i wasn't looking for these items, but they found me yesterday.

Eclipse Red Ring and Aristocrat Jr. pics here. along with a nice red tip (not pictured) all found locally.

i always look for these little rockets and aristocrats, but this is my nicest haul and the aristocrat is always one i wanted. i wasn't exactly sure what it was when i bought it, but i knew it was a nice British rocket of some sorts. i'm still looking for one of the fancier ones, with the nice highly polished or rhodium finish, but this this one makes me VERY happy.

shaved with the Aristocrat Jr today and got a wonderful shave. it looks hardly used, if ever. a couple of scuffs on the case, but no cracks, chips, hinges work.

it's my 1st cased razor.

I would still love a Rhodium British Aristocrat.... too bad being in the US the chances of finding one while antiquing is next to zero and I would rather not pay the high price tag on ebay.

That's an interesting holder Syngent!

Well, if any more Lather Catchers I can afford ever show themselves (they must use spined blades), I'll be all over them.

And some day I'd like a Manchurian. I don't need one, I'd just like one.

All in time.

Wouldnt mind to own a Red Ring. The white whale of safety razors. But i´m a cheapscate and would never (if i was even allowed) spend that much money on a razor. I have a little unrealistic nerdish dream to find one at a swedish flee-market one day. One that are "practically free".

.......thank you, James (Syngent).......

.......i'm always leery of eBay razors....

......bought a GEM, and while it looked great, it didn't hold the blade tightly.... the 'lid' that holds the blade wasn't tight enough......

....with every stroke, the blade slid backwards....

I've been hunting on Ebay for awhile. They are either priced obscenely high as a Buy It Now or I would always get out bid at the last minute. I happened to find two w/ the original case recently and I happened to be the only bidder. I've actually had great success in buying razors on Ebay- all have arrived as described. I only buy from reputable vendors who post lots of pictures and I get very leery of those who only post one or two pics and have horrible descriptions. They are still in route, but once they get here and I get them cleaned and polished I can PM you if you would like- maybe we can work something out and I can send one your way. Let me know if that is something you are interested in.

save time and look under Injector razors,or Gem razors or specific Gem Damaskeene ...can usually find what you want...bid early and then not again until the ending time..last few minutes..pop in a big jump (in your budget) and unless it is highly bidded or has many bidders ...you will usually get what you wantLightbulb

Those razors are stunning. Congratulations and use them well. I recently hunted down a beautiful Wilkinson Sticky. They just don't make these kind of razors anymore.
