I am brand new to this, but have enjoyed my first week of shaving with a DE.  Can anyone help me identify the construction and relative quality (or price point) of this e-shave brush?  It was part of a kit that I received as a gift several years ago.  It seems to do its job well, but I've got no frame of reference.  Knot is ~20mm and loft is ~60mm.  Thanks!  [Image: Ym9mAcR.jpg]

I'm not sure what that brush is. But...

That looks like a (pure/black/grey) grade badger hair. It's pretty fair to say it is entry level and lower quality but affordable option available. If you are looking for any help on your next brush, regardless of what kind of hair, The Shave Nook members will be able to really help you out a lot. Keep using your brush and happy shaving!

Sinker, your first week of DE shaves is a beautiful thing! They'll continue to get better as your technique evolves. Like Zack said whenever you have questions just ask Smile

Thanks, guys! That’s pretty much what I expected. While the entire experience has been luxurious so far, I’ll definitely be researching brush upgrades.

Hi Sinker,

It could be Dark Badger hair, it could be Goat hair or a mixture of both, a practice which is becoming more and more prevalent in the manufacture of lower priced offerings.

Hard to say but it looks a nice little brush all the same & the handle shape is a classic.

Welcome to wet shaving & to TSN.
