The month have ticked over, and on the first day of September the mail-man brought me a small, well padded back from Shave-A-Buck Smile

A Cadet TP-1 Open Comb, a small alum stick in a push up container and a stick of Lea Shaving Soap.

Lets just say I'm looking forward to the shave on Monday Biggrin

got this handle and a MNS sample in the mail the other day. The handle is for my 1904, to replace the EJ DE87 handle that's on the Merkur 1904 head:

then I got this package from a friend on another forum who placed an order from a shop in India. I actually forgot about this stuff:

As a matter of fact, I have not come to a conclusion about the material of the scales.
It can also be bone or plastic, perhaps, But I have not the ability to tell. Is there an easy way to do so?

it seems that this one was produced between 1891 and 1901 - which makes it more than 110 years old!

Plastic feels like plastic. So does celluloid. It also looks like plastic and would have a plastic wedge.

Your wedge is lead.

Bone & ivory feel cold to the touch being made of calcium. Bone has holes for the blood vessels. Ivory has a tight grain pattern. Ivory feels like ivory, bone feels like bone.

If you rub celluloid (not modern plastic), it gives off a camphor like odor.

It looks like ivory to me.

I was fortunate enough to secure a new Tradere 2nd Generation OC and a couple of tubes of new formula Proraso shave creams. All these new goodies exceeded my expectations.

Finally pulled the trigger on the Tabac in a bowl. The Speick is my first shave stick. Looking forward to trying the RazoRock Mudder Focker and 888 aftershave wax as well.
