Good question - I believe it has to do with how gentle the soap is on your skin.

If that’s the case then I’d guess hand soap would be the least gentle, followed by bath soap, and then facial soap would be most gentle.

Mikes natural soaps website gives a good description of the difference between shampoo and body/ soap. If you email Mike, he’ll be more detailed.

Short version: a shampoo bar can be used for everything but a body bar does not make a good shampoo bar.
