Variant is heavier, I think, but I prefer it over the Progress.

I just got my second Variant in the mail yesterday and happy to confirm neither of mine have a blade alignment issue.

I've had the Progress, Mergress, and Digress in my time and all have found new homes. My Variant is here to stay. I just like the feel, look overall, and the quality of shave, though subjective, is better IMO.

Only issue I've known about and even heard of was the paint on the handle coming off early on and my 1st had that issue. Didn't affect the shave. I picked up another from Phil when he started the sale on all Parker product. Flawless and fantastic shave!

I've got both saved to my Amazon wish list.  Not in a great hurry to buy them because I have my Fatboy, but I'll probably get around to the others eventually.

Exactly.

The progress was my favorite razor for 4 years but had to align the blade every time.

The variant was just as bad, had to send it back twice! But at least their customer service is better than merkur...who just deny everything!!

Now I'm off adjustable with moving parts.
The Rockwell 6S (and 6C for travel) are my favorite razors.

I have the karve on the way too.

I'll never buy an adjustable with moving parts ever again!!
