Hi,
How do I clean off the shaving cream scum deposits off the bottom side of my double edge razor?
Thanks

I clean it with a stream of hot water, then shake of most of the water. Let it air dry.
Gillette TTOs' design is clever that way.

I have three part razors.....I loosen the head and run hot tap water over the blade/razor head then blow on each side and re-tighten the head. Also have a small container of alcohol, loosen the head a little swish the razor, then blow on the sides, re-tighten head... Wink

After every shave, I disassemble the razor and clean it under running warm water with a small soft toothbrush.  I never let it get a buildup of soap scum.

If your intention is to clean and reuse the blade, after rinsing with hot water, wait until it's cool enough to remove the blade, palm strop it once or twice and you're good to go. Works like a charm!

I too use the hot water rinse but once reassembled I dunk the head in my little vintage Barbicide jar.

WOW, such care, such danger? I simply take the blade out of my TTO or 3 piece razors, run the blade under hot water wiping against the blade's edge between my fingers and set aside to dry. Seems to work fine and paying attention helps. Much like everything in life!!! PAY ATTENTION!!!! Even with a cartridge razor doesn't everyone need to simply pay attention? Sans blade the razor is very easy to clean! Running water & maybe an old tooth brush for a bit of scrubbing?? All good fun really!!!!

The razor, or the blade?

If just the blade, I rinse the whole thing in the hottest water I get from my tap - blade is going in the bin after a week anyway, so it's no big deal if a little scum remains away from the edges.

The razor? Hot water rinse and a soft toothbrush if needed - after I take the blade out - and the occasional dip in an ultrasonic bath.

I always clean my razor after each shave. About the blade, I rinse it with hot water and gently clean it with a paper towel before putting it back to the razor. I change my blade every 4-5 shaves, but it depends on the blade I use.

Every time I change blades, I use Scrubbing Bubbles and an old toothbrush to clean the head and handle.
