When I got my tax refund check, in addition to a couple of Vie-Long horse hair barber-size brushes, I sent away for a 5.3oz tub of Taylor of Old Bond Street almond scented cream.  I noted that it lathers well, requires only a little bit in order to whip up a good amount, and has a nice clean scent reminiscent of my Method-brand wood cleaners.  I've got the Mr. Taylor's scent saved on my Amazon wish list for when I get paid in early April, along with a lathering bowl (my Old Spice shave mug is too deep for the cream, so I'm using my Van Der Hagen deluxe puck until then).

Who else has used the almond scented cream?  What are your thoughts?

I like how ToBS lathers and smells, but my criticism is that it provides almost no ‘slick’ at all: croaps or creams. I have some remnants of almond from an old metal tube of ToBS and it’s much better stuff. The feeling of there being no slick I refer to as being “sharp” or dry on the face. Tabac is the complete opposite, and no doubt many other soaps beside. I was attracted to ToBS because of the variety of fragrances, but for me, I prefer other brands these days. Some love it, but as ever: YMMV

They have a nice sweet-almond scent. Mr. Taylor is nice too, and I also like Avocado. It doesn't smell like guacamole, it's the leaf of the plant, so it's earthy and reminds me of fresh cut grass.

TOBS are definitely ok creams, I own 15-16 tubs of TOBS.

They lack slickness however.

I'll take your word for it, seeing as how my experience with pucks and creams is still limited.  I only began wet-shaving in 2016 and didn't come to safety razors until last August/September.  I've only ever used Williams, Van Der Hagen, and D.R. Harris pucks.  Taylor's was something I treated myself to with my tax refund.

I’ve been using TOBS shaving cream for years; it’s my go-to shaving cream. All their creams I've used have been consistently excellent, including the Almond. My staple creams are Rose and Lavender, but Sandalwood and Avocado also feature high on my list.

I ordered a tub of Mr. Taylor's along with a porcelain lathering bowl, both of which should arrive today.  My Old Spice mug is simply too deep and narrow for using creams even with my longer Vie-Long horse hair brushes.  So it'll be interesting to see how well the lathering goes tonight.

My favorite aspect of the almond scent is the cleanliness thereof.  I don't know why, but for some reason I just associate it with that.  My wood cleaners are also almond-scented for that reason.

Try the Peppermint for summertime. It is fantastic and has a great menthol blast! It is one of my favorites!

Haha - I just used Avocado the other day and thouroughly enjoyed.  Glad it did not smell like guac as I did not need to launch into a chip eating fest!
