So I have been on the hunt for Rooney Finests since Rooney stopped selling them. This last couple if weeks I was able to find 3 of them for sale and made some fantastic deals. I got the style 1, the style 2, and the style 3. I'm feeling pretty blessed. These brushes don't feel very used...the bristles are not fully broken in yet and feel absolutely wonderful on the face. They also make the best lather in my whole herd of brushes.

Another thing I noticed is what wonderful lather these 4 brushes make. I have M&F Finest, and a 2012 Blonde Badger, but the Finests feel better than those for sure and make a thick goo of lather, even from my most challenging soaps.

Something else is that under magnification the hairs look different. They have thicker shafts, cream colored caramel tips, and the color of the hair is different.

The face feel is fantastic; huge backbone, wonderful softness yet some soft scritch, too. The style 2 so far is my favorite followed by the style 3, and then the style 1.

I also recently acquired a Rooney Heritage 2XL and it feels different than any other 3-band I have ever tried. This one is soft, but with loads of backbone. It feels like a chubby 3, but in a smaller format, if that makes sense. The knot is super cushiony, but it is also a beast, and makes thick whipped lather that enhances my shave. This knot holds almost a full ounce of water if I don't shake it!

Anyone else have any input on your finests with respect to my descriptions?

Here are a few pics for your brush porn enjoyment.

Cheers!

Congratulations!!! For me nothing beats Rooney Heritage Super Hair (both 2 and 3 Band). And Finest looks and feels as if from a unicorn and not a badger.

I love the bloom on that brush, Georg! I agree...Finest really is from a different species than new brushes.

Nathan,

I have one more coming this week, a 3/3.  I am really looking forward to that one!  I like larger brushes and this one has a gigantic knot for a finest.  I'll post some pictures when it arrives.

Cheers!

Nice!
Once upon a time I had a 3/3 Finest.  The loft was far too tall and extremely scritchy (the only one of the many finest brushes I have had that has had a lot of scritch. In fact I would actually call it scratchy!) for me so I parted ways with it.  The lofts vary greatly on these brushes.  I hope you love it!

Here is the picture of the 3/3 standing next to the three size 1's. It has a new home as I found it was just too big for me. A longtime member here traded a few brushes for it.

Yeah, those 3/3 Finests are, for me anyway, just too big. If the loft was about 10 mm less it would be just about right for my preferences.
