For those of you who have recently purchased (as in the last few months) an M&F brush, how has the hair been?  I think it is only Finest 2 band and 3 band available right now. I have heard a few folks say that some of the recent knots have had some scritch.  Has that been your experience?  Anyone with recent gel like tips?  I would only like to hear about recent knots, not purchases from more than a few months ago.  Thanks!

For my taste latest 2 Band knots have  been a bit rough. Hence, I got a 3 Band 2XL from Lee directly which has been great.

Brad Sears/M&F Blonde Badger 26mm Bulb in December 2017.  I realize Blonde Badger is currently out of stock.

The first shave or two may have been slightly scritchy or perhaps just stiff.  Same comment for another artisan's brush purchased  in 2017.  Both brushes are favorites now.  I favor medium backbone and soft feel - too much scritch would be remembered and on B/S/T.

I’ve got 2 Finests from around January 2018. One 2XL and one L7.

Both have incredibly strong backbone and tons of scrub. The individual hairs are very thick so that’s likely where the backbone comes from. Little to no scritch. Tips are not bleached and appear natural. Not overly dense so great flow through. Very unique batch of hair and perfect if you like backbone and decent scrub. If you’re looking for gel then I would not recommend.

Here’s the L7.

However, batches of hair change frequently and Brad currently is stating the finests show gel qualities, so it would be best to inquire of Brad about the current knots.

We've not yet delivered a lot of the new 3-band Supers; so if I may offer my impressions (trying to be as objective as I can), the new Super hair is somewhat thinner than the previous batch; so Lee tells me he packs it a bit more densely and at 1-2mm lower loft.  The net result--again my impression--is that tips feel similar to the current Finests, but with more moderate backbone, it makes a very well balanced brush.

I hope this helps.  And, as has been suggested above, I'm always happy to answer questions.

Best wishes for a great day!
