Today I tried Gillette Sensor Excel for the first time and I was disappointed.. that it was quite aggressive(compared to the Mach 3) and I had tiny cuts in several places inside and especially in the neck, And now half an hour after shaving I feel that my face is burning and unpleasant compared to the Gillette Mach 3 which the feeling is very pleasant after shaving.
I have no idea if the reason of cuts it's because Sensor Excel sharper than Gillette Mach 3 or its blades are more jagged.
The handle was a very comfortable and easy to navigate under your nose.
the conclusion: In my opinion Gillette Mach 3 is the best razor Gillette has ever produced, much more Gillette Fusion Proglide + Fusion Proshield and also the others razors.

It's been a longish time since I last tried a cart, but the Sensor and Sensor Excel was my daily drivers for many years. I found that while both gave me trouble (in the days of little prep and little skill), the Excel was more inclined to nip and tug than the plain Sensor.
I also seem to recall that there could be significant differences between different lot-number of carts for both the Sensor and Sensor Excel - and quality declined as time went by and (presumably) the assembly machinery got worn.
YMMV off course, but I feel that the best shaver Gillette ever made didn't take carts

2 Bladed Sensor carts are milder than their Sensor 3 siblings, that's true. And yes, Mach 3 is considerably gentler on the skin. I own a couple of Contours (one NOS), Sensors, Mach 3s and a Fusion. The Mach 3 is the one I reach for when my skin is tired, but I find the Fusion more effective and almost as smooth.

The Sensor Excel is what I used for 20 some years befor I took up wet shaving some 7 years ago. It suited my needs when I started shaving and I never went in for the 3, 4, or 5 bladed cartridges. I still use it with a shave stick and brush who I fly a don't know if I will be able or have time to run out for de blades.
