Hi all
I am torn between the brad sears select badger 30mm set in the archibald handle vs the manchurian 26mm in Bob Quinns stone handle. Has anyone tried either one? Any advice ?

Well both are vendors so you could have a few questions answered directly towards them via PM if need be. Many people here on TSN are going to be able help you in regards to ergonomics and weight with chosen material for the handles. I would recommend knowing what you want to get out of the knot. It's the different feelings and sensations with the lather you will coat your face with. For instance, this is how I would choose a knot these days. If it is a 2 band hair, it would be 24mm to 28mm at diameter. I would prefer a slight bulb canopy but truly remembers a fan hybrid. I also want the density to be on the medium side. That could be light medium or medium dense but not light and not dense.

This is because I know what preferences I have in a knot when it is constructed using 2 band hair. I would say many people these days know the luxury feel of certain 2 band designs but I think the function of a 2 band knot is to explore a certain character of backbone within the individual hairs themselves. Another way to accentuate the backbone is to form a peak or bulb with the shape of the knot's face. I think these are more dynamic when the 2 band bulbs offer exposure and flex about the handle opening. The stuffed low and packed to the brim with thick badger type knots seem to offer lots of scrub (maybe scritch), resistance on the face, and unfortanuetly a sacrifice of flow through, application and release.

One of each or flip a coin.

I have an Azurite and Malachite stone handle and 26mm Manchurian from Elite Razor.  The stone handle is really unique as heavier and "colder" than resin handle.  Knot feels softer than many.  Some believe Azurite and Malachite has some health benefits  - not sure if true but helps with the logic to purchase.

My Brad Sears are M&F 26mm blonde badger knots.  Quality products and quality artisan.  Brad Sears has excellent service and brushes.

Both are a right answer and both their brushes are in my favorites.

Both are excellent options.  I think you will be happy with either.  I have brushes by both and each is a quality brush.  I tend to slightly favor the stone handles by Elite Razor as they are a nice variation from resin handles and just have very nice weight and feel in the hand.

Thanks guys. I agree with the reason for the stone handle as well , and just might do it. There are so many choices on the elite site , it’s difficult to choose as they are all beautiful. I have communicated with Bob Quinn and Brad Sears and I think they are both quality artisans and stand up guys.

Hi I purchased the exact same manchurian knot and handle. It arrives tomorrow. Can’t wait. I will probably purchase from BSSW at a later time

Bob's stone handles are exceptional.  The Gold Laced Onyx on the left has one of Bob's 24mm Manchurian White knots.  The Bloody Basin Jasper on the right has a 24mm Envy White knot. Both knots measure out to 26mm + at the top of the handle, and are set to a 50mm loft.  I find the Manchurian White knot to be superior to the Envy White.

Just ordered the malachite with a Manchurian white bulb. This will be my first Elite brush, I was really drawn to the blue color of the stone.

I own 3 of his handles and probably 7 of his Manchurian knots and 3 of his high mountain white knots that I have mounted in other handles.  Absolutely love his work and his knots are second to none in the industry and I own a bunch of high end brushes.  I personally think his knots are better than Thater and Paladin 2 band knots.  Just my opinion but I have not found many knots that are better than his.

Hey shavemd, I have your twin brush. I am unable to post a pic due to some glitches with iPhone X. We purchased Bob’s last two azurite and malachite handles.
