I know they're no Simpsons, M&F, Paladin, Wiborg, Declaration, etc., but anyone have experience with the Yaqi badger brushes on Aliexpress (either silvertip or finest) and have some opinions on them?

Theyre great brushes, easily as good as any other brush you can buy.  Ive owned high end Muhle badgers and my Yaqi is easily as good at 1/4 the price.

I own a Yaki silvertip and really like it.  For the price you can't beat it.  I just had to wait a month for it to arrive on the slow boat.

I may be wrong but my understanding is that some of the beta testing I did for Shave Revolution included knots from Yaqi. Not 100% sure but if so, the knots I tried we pure untreated HMW, treated (gel tip) HMW and manchurian. All were very nice and I would probably recommend them based on price of the knots. That isn't to say that there may be some (maybe myself included) that have certain feelings on their business practices regarding handles, razors, designs, yada yada. Anyways, I would say give them brushes a shot.

Look, they're not Simpsons or Morris & Forndrans, or Paladins. BUT, for the price, they're pretty darn good.

I think they set the loft too high.

Their badger is nice. Avoid their boar brushes. I bought two boar brushes from them and eventually removed the knots and replaced them. They never stopped shedding.

Their badger is good. I bought through Amazon though. I'm not comfortable using AliExpress.

I just received a Yaqi Mysterious Space two band badger and have used it twice. I'll agree with Todd that the loft is on the higher side,  but I found there to be sufficient backbone for my taste.  There is a moderate amount of scrub, no scritch, and very good water retention/lather building.

The brush was delivered to me here in Thailand (from Alibaba) in just over a week.  For the money it is an outstanding value.

I bought the brush after being very impressed with the two Yintal razors I'm traveling with. They too offer outstanding value. Frankly, I just spent two weeks shaving with the Yintals and cannot fault their performance in any way.  I will be re-evauating my razors when I get home and expect there to be some sold.

While we are on the subject, how are the Yaqi synthetics?

Very good.  Id rate them right up there with any other synthetic.
