Pretty new to the hobby but learning and really enjoying it.

In as much as the razor is concerned, I really like the audible sensation of the blade singing as it cuts.

What makes a great singing straight razor?

Which are your favorites?

Grind (guessing more hollow the better)?

What about size (is bigger better)?

Metal (tool, high carbon, folded)?

appreciate your response.

For the most part the more hollow a razor it the more it’s going to sing but a 5/8”is going to be quieter than an 8/8” TI makes razors that sing but I honestly am to picky on bevel issues so can’t deal with that, lots of makers like BBRW’s and Koraat make belly grinds that are pretty loud.

Most new users start with 5/8” round nose but honestly it’s all n what you like, I started on 5/8” many years back and now prefer 7/8”-8/8” but they all offer something special so try different grinds from wedge to full hollow and from 5//8” on up, I currently have a many razors in rotation and enjoy what each maker offers in his design.
