My Father had not been keeping well for some time and I got him to stay with me till his health improves. He stays in another city with my younger brother and his family.

It being Sunday today, I decided to treat him to a good wet shave primarily to kill his boredom and give him something to engage, discover and experiment on daily basis.

I asked him on his comfort of using a DE razor to which his response was affirmative. I let him spin Merkur Progress with Polsilver SI blades. He went in with proraso boar brush and Flying Mango soap.

He did the first pass himself though I had to help him adjust the blade gap on the razor initially. He had been on carts for last many years and this was his first DE shave in last many years. He had not used a shaving soap before today.

He did nick himself at a few places but they were minor cuts and nothing to worry.

I decided to give him a 2nd pass myself. I made a thick lather for him by adding more soap and water and whipped it till he got a protective and slick lather. I held the razor gently and gave him a smooth and nick free 2nd pass.

I asked him how his face felt after the shave and he acknowledged with a smile. I had him put the Alt Innsbruck Aftershave. He was not expecting a sting and but it did.... The scent is intoxicating and manly though. I m sure he would like the scent once the initial feel settles down.

After that, I showed him how to wash the razor, brush and soap puck after the use since he has now access to my shave den and he can treat himself to a shave like today, everyday till he is staying with me.

It was a great feeling since it was him who taught me to shave in the 1st place when I was still a teen..

I look forward to converting him to Wet Shaving soon.

Now there's a moment I wish I'd been able to have with my own father.  Sadly, he passed away three and a half years ago, so that is never to happen.  But I hope to one day introduce the joy of wet shaving to my own son when he's old enough, in about sixteen or eighteen years (he's still in diapers).
