Pushed the button, bought with some ASW Fougere soap. So looking forward to putting these with a Proline through their paces.

Excellent choice. Light touch for a long lasting shave.

The Asylum Rx is a great choice.

I've been contemplating purchasing an Asylum Rx since the prototype drawings were posted online some time ago.  I enjoy my Mongoose SS and ATT SE1 with Feather AC Pro blades, but I find these are aggressive enough for my aging face and I'm not sure I could handle a razor with too much more blade exposure.

Terry,

I am a huge fan of the ATT SE1.  I had the opportunity to try the Asylum.  In my opinion the SE1 is a meek little pussy cat next to the carnivorous Asylum.  I would try before you buy.

There was one in the for sale forum yesterday for around 160! Had I not just bought one I would have been all over it!

Enjoy the shave! Love mine. For me a shallow angle and light touch = great shave

And I'm the guy that just bought it.  My experience with AC blades so far is limited to my Colonial General aluminum and a Feather SS.  I bought the Rx pretty much based on various reviews I've read, an excellent price, and because my wife has been pushing on me to pick a birthday present for myself. Sometimes you have to go with the flow.

I am looking forward to trying out the new toy.

Still not arrived yet. Looks like it's been with UK customs since May 30. Hope they haven't lost it!!

Congratulations both of you !

Incidentally I had bought a used one too and has been lying around past two weeks unused and untouched yet for one reason or the other.

From what I've read and from the buyer who sold his copy me - it's an aggressive shaver and should start off with a milder blade. I have the Kai captain, the mild pink, feathers all versions including pro, super and guard as well as the prolines.

Any advice from the more initiated ones on which blade to start with for me as well as the other two gentlemen here ?

I started with the Pro-Guard for the first 10 or so shaves to get a good feel of the Rx. I now use a Proline blade and really love this razor. The only Other SE I kept was my Cobra Classic.

It is an extra efficient razor, but for an experienced wet shaver, it holds no secrets.

When I got my Rx I asked Phil which blade to use as it was my first AC razor.
He recommended the Kai Pink and that is what I started with. Since then I have also used the Schick Proline and Feather Pro.
The Rx is a wonderful razor.

I started with the feather proguard and they are great. Then I chased a better shave (which I am not sure why...since it was shaving quite well), and tried the Kai blades. They tore me up under the chin and on the neck. So I am going to try the Kai pro touch blades. We will see how they work once they arrive! If they aren’t better than the proguard blades, I will just stick with the proguards and be happy!
