I recently ordered a Simpsons Tulip 3 Super Badger brush and a TSS XL Stainless Steel Brush-Only Stand from The Superior Shave and I cant wait to try it out when it arrives . I have been using an Omega boar which has been a great brush, but I have been wanting to try a badger brush and I’m glad I came across the Superior Shave! They have the best layout of any website I’ve come across for shaving brushes. I loved that it had photos and dimension of the actual brush they will be sending you as it made me realize there were variations in the dimensions of brushes of the same make & model. He had a few of the Simpsons Tulip 3 for sale and I chose the one whose dimensions seemed the best to me which were a 24.5 mm knot, 51.88 mm loft, 40.7x50.9mm handle, and a total weight of 82.3 g.

Congratulations.  The Tulip is an excellent brush, great with both creams and soaps, and yours should be fine for either face lathering or bowl lathering.

I mainly bowl lather and I also have a Georgetown Pottery G20 scuttle on the way. I cant wait to see how the G20 / Tulip 3 combo works out. My previous combo was an Omega Boar and a plastic bowl.

That’s a big jump! Georgetown makes excellent scuttles. I paid a lot for a G12 shipped to Canada but it’s excellent.

My main suggestion is to now rotate between your brushes. Dense badger brushes need a few days to dry properly.

Enjoy your new hardware. I’m sure you’ll be counting down the days waiting for all your new toys. Biggrin

Congratulations on stepping into a quality badger.  I am sure you will love it. The scuttle is a nice addition too.  I  have a  G20 and the warm lather is a real luxury on a cold morning. Some guys use them with cold water on hot days.  Anyway, enjoy and happy shaving!

I'm looking forward to them. I do still plan on using the boar as I like its scratchiness when I have skipped a few days of shaving. Thanks for the tip on letting it dry out a few days. Will using a badger without letting it dry out properly shorten the lifespan?

I just got my Georgetown Pottery scuttle in. However it appears they sent me a G12 second instead of a G20 second as it only held 12 ounces of water, but honestly it seems big enough and since I only do one pass shaves with a cartridge razor I'm guessing it will keep the lather warm enough. I may just keep it and tell them not to worry about the extra 5 bucks and keep it as a tip. I just really wanted the big one when I ordered. I will say it is a very nice scuttle and if the seconds have little imperfections I sure cant see them.

The Tulip and the Duke are, for me, the quintessential Simpson brushes. They are the badgers that have most captured my imagination over the decade I've been wetshaving. Iconic, bordering on Platonic ideals of shave brushes. Enjoy it in good health!

My Simpsons Tulip 3 and TSS Stainless Steel XL Brush Stand arrived today from The Superior Shave. I like the look and feel of both of them. They also threw a little bonus in, a 90g bar of Alles Seife "Men Only" Shaving Soap No. 1. I haven't used a shaving soap in a while and plan on giving it a go the next time I shave. It has a very nice scent.

We'll look forward to pictures of your actual brush.  Also, please let us have your thoughts on the soap after you've had a chance to use it.

How do you upload an image other than from a web link? By the way Georgetown Pottery’s customer service was awesome. When I told them about the mixup and that I’d rather just keep the G12 they said they would credit the 5 bucks and send me something extra out today for my awesomeness.

Here is a pic of my Simpsons Tulip 3, TSS XL brush stand, and the Georgetown Pottery G12. I like the feel of the Tulip 3. It is soft but firm and holds heat very well[Image: 4X5yM0G.jpg]
