I picked up a box of Claus Porto shaving soap powder, and I used it this morning for the first time.

Following the printed directions, I filled my mug about half full of powder.

Then I gradually added water....

To make a thick paste. The instructions said to use a brush, but I used a spoon to mix it.

Then I loaded the brush....

And made lather in my Straight Razor Designs scuttle.

The lather had great cushion and glide, lasting through three passes. It had a very light, slightly perfumed and soapy scent, somewhat similar to vintage colgate shaving soap. And it left my skin very moisturized and soft.

The soap was already starting to set up and harden in the mug while I shaved. I cleaned up the edges slightly and put it away for the next time.

I am very pleased with the this soap. It will have a regular place in my rotation.

John :

thanks for taking the pictures : I think that now everybody have a clue how this "po de sabao" really works.

I have an old Musgo Real stick , which is one of the best sticks out there , so I already know that Portuguese were able to do excellent soaps in the past.

It seems that this soap is a tallow based one and Im not surprise about its good skin care properties.

Again, thanks for sharing and enjoy it.

As long as it performs well that's all that matters. What would be the disadvantage of an "ugly" soap?
