Ka-BOOM! For those who love the Semogue SOC but have reservations about the wooden handle. . . have a look below. Problem solved. The Semogue SOC is now available in a beautiful and hefty ivory colored resin handle while maintaining its perfect ergonomic shape. And to boot, it comes in 2-band badger, mixed knot or SOC boar trim! Semogutopia indeed!
Got mine today. . .

Now that’s different, for sure. I do like traditional cream colored handles, but never visualized an SOC made with this material. I’ve had two SOCs with the cherry handle, which I find visually appealing, btw, and agree it’s very comfortable. Even still, I wouldn’t mind if it was ever-so-slightly upsized just a bit. What’s the hair feel like?

I’ve previously had two SOCs and both broke in after a number uses. This one has some scrub and a touch of scritch. But given my experience with SOC badgers, I’m confident the scritch will go away after a few uses.

Bought from the Portuguese Factory. Super fast shipping from Portugal, took just over a week.

This is a good move by Semogue.  I like the shape of the SOC handle, but prefer resin over wood for a brush.

I just ordered one of these, in boar, from Gifts & Care. I've got one in cherry, but it's showing some age. I have a relatively new Thater boar, so I'm anxious to compare the new SOC to the Thater. (My cherry SOC is so broken in it's not been a fair fight.)

Thanks for letting me know this exists!

I have the new SOC two bands and it is a beast totally different to the edition of TSN, more backbone and very nice scrubby. the resin is a beauty!

I like the resin but I wish they did something different with the logo to make it stand out. I actually ordered an SOC Cherry boar as my first boar a few days ago before I even knew this was an option and it looks like this one is significantly more expensive from The Portuguese Factory where I ordered mine from.

Just an FYI -we are expecting a batch of the ivory SOC brushes with all three knot options in a few weeks.

My first two brushes were the boar and badger SOCs with cherry handles.  They've held up beautifully for regular, 2-3 times monthly perhaps for each,  - going on three years and with an occasional touch of mineral oil the wooden handles remain perfect.

Have wished I'd scored the boar-badger blend from discontinued (SE?) Semoques so when I ran across the new Taj resin handled Semogues yesterday I  pounced like a puma on a parakeet and added the Boar-Badger blended knot version to an order I was placing at G&C.

I have pretty well limited myself to acquiring LE/SE brushes.  However, when I saw this I had to break the rule.  The handle is excellent - perfect fit and finish.  Another winner from Semogue.

...just breaking-in the mixed boar-badger knot - first impressions are really positive. The resin handle is a little heavier than the wooden SOC's, feels even better in the hand. I suspect other colours will probably be released in time, personally I would love to see the same resin as the SOC 2012 SE. If anyone has the TaJ and the Caravela or 2012 SE would love to hear how they compare.

Phil, are the knot specs of the boar version the same as the wooden handle SOC?
