The bars seem expensive, especially ones like Mike's that don't last very long, but I haven't done an actual cost comparison with liquids.
I've been wondering about the longevity of shampoo bars.

I've been using a bar from Chagrin Valley for my daily showers since March and it's down to a 1/4" slice. So 3 months...ish.
To be fair, the Chagrin Valley bars are the largest bars I've yet tried. Mike's bars and Mystic Waters typically last just over a month for me.

I seem to have a dry scalp (and get dandruff as a result) so something that helps that would be good, i'll have to be selective in what I buy!
Me too.....Dermatologist told me(20+ years ago)use coal tar shampoo. I buy Equate (Walmart brand) same % as the more expensive Over The Counter brands.
Does it work for you?
We can't buy coal tar products in the UK, bloody EU Regulations![]()
Wright's Coal Tar Soap used to be a lovely British soap, now it's just coal tar fragrance only.
Why are they banned ?

For me they last at least as long as a bottle of shampoo, but I got really, really short hair

Coal tar is an effective treatment for psoriasis and eczema, but it contains several carcinogenic compounds.

pH has nothing to do with removing oil. Liquid shampoos use SLS and other detergents which are far more efficient at stripping oils than soap (an emulsifier) ever will.

A surfactant detergent pretty much means sodium laurel sulfate. It is considered hazardous by the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200). Although it is an effective detergent, it does cause skin and eye irritation and was one of the ingredients that really flared up my dandruff and eczema. If you have sensitive skin or dandruff, then avoiding harsher soaps made primarily with detergents, palm, or coconut oil would be a solid bet.

So far, these are the only two shampoo bar I havr tried. Because I have very long hair, I prefer the PAA for my hair. But the stirling is quite good too and i like the that their bar isn't round.

Just wondered if anyone on here uses shampoo bars? I'm interested in using them, not sure what to look for in a bar.
Any recommendations would be great!
Cheers

I have been using J.R. Liggett's bar shampoo. Comes in different blends (Tea Tree & Hemp oil) (Jojoba & Peppermint) (Virgin Coconut & Argon Oil) (Herbal Oil) Etc. Also, if I remember correctly it is equivalent to a 24 oz. bottle of liquid shampoo.
