Maybe I should try for a third time?
check out Nathan's (Merkur Man) video on how to lather a soap. It's on the website somewhere. It's a tutorial on how to make a lather directly on the puck. In the video, he uses Mike's soap. Even for someone like me who enjoyed Mike's for years. this technique got me to make the most out of Mike's.

While you’re definitely an extreme outlier on your opinion of Mike’s Natural, there is no reason to use something that didn’t meet your expectations. Be happy using other stuff my friend... Having seen photographic evidence of the Armageddonesque supply you tend to amass of soaps you enjoy, it just means more Mike’s for the rest of us!

It will likely not come as a surprise to anyone that I really enjoy Mike’s. In fact I would go as far to say that while I’ve found soaps that I find just as good, I’ve never found a soap that is better, performance-wise, than Mike’s.
I love that Mike’s is just a constant. No updated formulas, an occasional new scent (no need for 10 new scents per year!), little need of the usual shave forum hype around soaps to sell them, it’s simply great and it’s performance does all the talking it needs. I must admit though, it’s gratifying to see an occasional thread where the soap is almost universally praised as one of people’s favorites.
Long live Mike’s Natural!!

I live to be an extreme outlier

Thanks Nathan, you are right about all that.
Btw, I didn't mean to sound that way yesterday, but when in a rush (especially in the AM) things often come out differently than I intend.(referring to post #29)

Agreed 110%
I actually started my heavy slow down period of not buying anymore soaps, when one of my favourite soap makers stopped making a soap and started on another formula in new container design.
Then shortly after relaunched the very same older formula.
I still love the brand, but I haven’t bought new soaps since that.
That incident made me realise why I respect brands like Mike’s Natural.
There can be too much of a good thing, like in hype and relaunches.
