What do you prefer for a temporary adhesive for experimenting with loft. I've heard of using RTV silicone but how permanent is it, and how difficult are the knots remove without damaging them? Most of the time I'll make them tight when I drill them, lately I've been experimenting with slightly oversizing the holes. Thanks.

E-tape. Seriously.

Not to stick the knot in with the adhesive, but to use it to keep the knot in place. Put a layer or two around the ring, and the friction will keep the knot in place.

Unless you drilled the hole too big.

No way would I use RTV.

Maybe alginate (see a dentist) or sea-bond. My first choice would be alginate though. It'll clean up with water.

You could just drill the top half of the hole as wide as you want, and the bottom half tight. That's what Simpsons does for the Chubby.
