Just won a used MWF soap and dish.
Wondering if I need to do anything to sterilize it like you do a brush or razor.
Silly question, I know. Just checking

Thanks

I would rinse it out thoroughly under running hot water, let it dry out uncovered for 24 hours, then use it.  Some guys will not touch a used soap, so it's a personal, subjective issue.

On a serious note, some folks will sell a used soap without even cleaning the leftover lather or stray hairs stuck in it (NASTY!!)
When I receive a used soap like that, I'll run the soap under the hottest water I can muster from my tap for a few minutes until all the old lather is gone and rest the tub on its side to drain as much water out as possible.
Then I'll use a pair of tweezers to extract any stuck stray brush bristles and leave the soap out to dry without the lid.
As was pointed out previously, buying used soap is a personal subjective choice.

I would think the only way to serialize a soap would be a UV box.  However, soap is non porous so that may not work and then you would have to autoclave it.  Which would ruin the soap and melt the container it is in.  So I guess don't worry about it?

You can't sterilize soap.  Can't even sterilize razors, for that matter.

You can sanitize razors.

For a used soap, I would run water over it to erode the top layer, or scrape off the top layer with a knife or spoon.  Or both.

When I buy used soaps I just scrape the top layer off with a butter knife.

Me, I just do two-three full brush loads. Rinse and repeat. It's just soap.

Scrape a bunch off the top, I guess.
