I realised something really interesting today.

The one with the black presentation box was made in the USA and the latest is made in China.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but this surprised me. I had no idea.

Nick, I was not aware of this, and I consider the place of manufacture significant.  I just checked the website and it still says the 6S is "Proudly forged in the USA."   If they're manufactured in China, this is a serious misrepresentation.  However, it has also been alleged on another forum that this is a printing error on the label.

I sent Rockwell an email asking where the 6S is maufactured.

Thanks for doing that! When you find out what happen please let us know. I'm hoping its just a printing error. I also think Nick would make a good Detective for spotting that!

They have previously stated it was a packaging error.

Hi Nick:
When did you receive the Rockwell 6s with the Made in China box?

I have a rockwell 6s to. Bought over here in Ireland.

It's also one of the "made in China" ones.

I personally find it very hard to believe that it's a printing error.

But that's probably the cynic in me.

It's been discussed before, there was a mixup with the labels and/or boxes. The mentioned 6S was probably packed in a box meant for the 6C, which is indeed made in China.

I see. False alarm. I was sure that it was made in the USA so when I saw the new packaging I didn't know what to believe. I have no reason not to believe Gareth, we've exchanged some emails in the past with a few questions of mine and he seemed to be honest.

I don't think that a chinese product has to necessarily be of a lower quality. Things have changed. But the consumer has to know the truth.
OneBlade costs 3 times more and is made in China. It's a quality product. I understand that some gents don't want to buy a product made in China for various reasons and I respect that.

Rockwell responded to my email and said the 6S is made in the USA.  Apparently there is a printing error on the label.

Glad to hear made in USA.  Does make a person wonder who incorrectly changed the label and how the error was missed by everyone at Rockwell.

It looks to me as though the box with "Made in China" is a rework of the 6C box, replacing the original 6S box in some markets.  There are lots of reasons Rockwell might have wanted to consolidate its box designs.  Then I'm guessing Rockwell said to its box designer, "Use this 6C style box, but rework the graphics for the 6S."  And they did, but they missed the "Made in China" bit.  An unfortunate, but easy, mistake to make.  Little quality control errors like this in the supply chain must drive manufacturers crazy.

I wonder if Rockwell got into any trouble with this error in the EU.  Isn't Brussels rather touchy about country-of-origin labeling?
