The 26mm Thater 4125, with the octagonal handle, is a popular and highly regarded brush.  The 26mm two band knot, available in either a bulb or a fan, is set to a loft of 55mm.  The result is the softness Thater is well known for and moderate backbone.  For those who would like to see this knot with more backbone, Thater has now delivered.

This summer, Thater released a Special Edition brush bearing the number designation of 4670.  It's a 26mm knot, but this is clearly not the same knot from the 4125 just set into a new handle.  The loft in the 4670 is reduced to 50mm.  The result is a significant increase in backbone, but without any loss of either softness or flow.  This brush creates lather as easily as the 4125.  The face feel of this brush is outstanding, with a very firm but Thater soft scrub.  Of course, there is no scritch whatsoever.  My brush has no glue bump protruding over the top of the handle.  I face lather, but the handle length hits that sweet spot where it is equally suitable for face or bowl lathering.

My knot has a diameter at the top of the handle of 27.40mm, and a loft of 51.50mm.  The knot on the 4670 has been described by Thater as "fan rounded."  This sounds to me like a fan/bulb hybrid.  Here is my brush right out of the box.  It looks slightly less rounded and more pointy than most of the 26mm Thater 4125 bulbs I've seen.

This is the brush after its first use, still wet from just being washed.

Here is the brush after its first use, and having dried for a day.

What  label is given to the shape of the knot is not significant, as the great face feel of this knot says it all.  This brush is priced $20 more than the 26mm 4125.  The slight price increase is well worth it.  At $185, this brush is an excellent value because if offers density, uber softness, and serious backbone.

I see that this is your first post.  Welcome to TSN. When you have a chance, please introduce yourself in the Introductions section, so our members can give you a proper welcome.

Regarding your question, the Thater is not as dense as a Chubby 2 Super, nor does it have the same backbone.  What the Thater has is a lot of backbone, but with better flow and splay than the Chubby 2.  I'm a Chubby 2 fan, but the Thater makes lather easier and quicker than the Chubby 2.
