I used it three times. I can't get a "good" lather.
It's weak, breaks down quickly on my face....absolutely no cushion, except on the
microscopic level. The ceramic container is nice. Quite a few like the cream but I
can't find anything on the hard soap. I do bloom it and have used different brushes
each time. I face lather. Just a poor soap to me.... Sad

Sorry to hear about your rotten luck! I have only ever used their cream, which is fantastic! The balm is great as well! They are both top tier.

I have no advice for the hard soap since I have no experience with it.

I picked up a puck.  For me, good, comfortable lather.  I know it is subjective but this soap likes more water than others (MWF/Tabac).  I kept adding water a little at at time until I got the desired consistency.  Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll give it more water.

The soap is not the greatest, even the maker admits it in his blog, I absolutely love his Cream and balm.

Truth is that the cream gets the compliments. I've tried the cream thanks to a friend and I had some good shaves.

Thanks for posting the ingredients.

There are many who believe any soap made with Sodium Palmate as the first ingredient will not lather well.  They argue that when Trumper switched to Sodium Palmate from Potassium Palmate, their hard soaps became impossible to lather.  This may be one possible explanation for the problem you're having.  In Miami's hard water, I have found that the non tallow soaps which lather best have Stearic Acid as the first ingredient.  Perhaps our members with soap making expertise can add some input on this issue.

Sodium hydroxide (lye) mades bar soap while potassium hydroxide makes liquid soap as the soap is more water soluble.   using more sodium palmate makes the bar harder without adding any extra stearic acid.  I believe harder bars are more difficult to lather.  I also see a lot of questionable ingredients such as sodium borate (boric acid), salt, Ti02, propylene glycol, sorbital (cheaper glycerine), etc..  I would bloom it and see if that worked.

Today I bloomed with boiling water!! Only done that once b/4.... Facepalm
I thought what do I have to lose, right? It helped a little, still a weak, poor lather.
I think I'll try to Super lather with Truefitt & Hill #10 and see how that works.

Today, I bloomed, lathered with my Fendrihan HMW. I smeared a very small amount of Truefitt & Hill #10 on my face, then face  lathered with the
Baume.Be……..Made a good lather. Whatever the Baume. B lacks a little of a good lathering soap allows the B.B to perform well.
Lesson learned.

It's the worst shaving soap I've ever had!!

It's so bad, I've got it laying around and couldn't even bring myself to use it as a bath soap!!

I used it again today...Bloomed as always with VERY hot water last night, then drained. Bloomed again this morning, worked up my lather.
It worked up a fast lather but it just melts on the face. Here's the catch...it still has some slickness and the cushion is there, it's just on the micro-
scopic level, which IS where the cushion and glide is on any soap, as I stated in my first post. I did get the worst cut I have ever gotten!
Was it my poor technique, the razor, the blade, the soap, a combination of all..... Huh
I just give up.... Facepalm  It's just too hard to try to do this early in the AM. Mad

After reading this entire thread, it sounds to me like this soap is a candidate for the shower.

Or a pre shave soap for those that use one.
