Sent in the latest razor for the "Tune-up Service from Razor Emporium, a Gillette 1974 Super-109.
Razor was in nice shape to start but it had a sticking door due to a bent guard.
So it was cleaned, spiffed up, painted and guard fixed...it looks great, will be taking it out for a spin tomorrow morning...they did a great job on it.

Looks pretty nice. What's the black material?

I had an old open comb razor Rhodium coated by them years ago. Not surprised they're still around. They did an outstanding job back then as well.

Is that nickle ot rhodium?

RE did my grandfather's SA109. I chose rhodium and couldn't be happier with it.

Congrats!

The black material is originally a resin or plastic, so they paint it a matching color, compared to a Super-84 I have.
The razor is in it's original Nickel finish, in a "Tune-up" they don't re-plate the razor just polish it up really nice...in the "Re-vamp" you get Electroplating.
I'll be sending in the Model 195 "Fat Boy" and Slim for the same treatment, also have a 1956 Super-Speed Flair-Tip (Red) that needs work.

So the razor cost me $22.50 on eBay and the Tune-up was $40, not a bad deal for a nice razor that will probably last another 20+ years...it's a 1974 (W1).

The Super Adjustables are beautiful razors. I’m partial to the short handle version’s appearance. Your razor is quite the looker! Many happy shaves.
