Charlie - Johnny, congratulations to you both. Not many marriages make it that long these days. Takes a lot of work on both parties parts to get it done. I've seen lots of theories offered as to why they don't last, but I've not seen one that seems to really hit the nail on the head. 

By-the-way the bride and I will be celebrating 50 just after Christmas.

Yes, a lot of acceptance and trying on both parts. Now that we're both retired our latest challenge is "I married him for better or for worse. Not for lunch!" Fortunately we both have plenty of pastimes to keep us out of each other's hair.
