These two items picked up recently for prices I am not going to mention, not because they were expensive, but because they weren't. Smile Pics not great, but they give enough detail I hope.

The first is an exceedingly rare British #49 Aristocrat Set with shipper, Gillette Blue Blades (original pack), etc. Missing instructions only. Some light fogging on one silo door. This is one of the earlier Juniors with no end caps and also without the later notched centre bar. This model has the winged bar. I think Mr Razor has one of these, but IMO my one is in better shape. Little to no use, by the looks of it. This beauty dates to 1948/49. I believe there was also a gold model. Base is stamped 430 030. Haven't used it, but  I have used another #48 and it gives a more aggressive shave than the slightly later, end-capped Juniors. The stamp on the inner case is gold and the lettering "Gillette" is a kind of violet blue. The inside felt lining is purple. Nice.

Then there is the Coronation Set. Enough has been said about these, so I won't add anything more. This is the heavier 74g set. I hadn't realised it was the 1953 Coronation until I received it and just picked out the crown on the case. Very happy Smile Looks nice. All intact, very good condition. Original blade case with some of the original Blue blades. The hunter green interior is lovely really. Enjoy!

Yes, I was lucky in this instance. There is a crown on the lid of the case, and only just discernible, but other than that, there is no difference at all. Maybe the shade or colour of the case itself, which is a bit darker than the standard #66 case.
