What is people's preference to when they shave and do people notice a difference? I only ask as I generally shave in the evening, always after a hot shower. This provides a good enough shave to last me until the next evening when I repeat the process. I generally shave in the evening as I get up for work quite early and usually go to the gym, so it is sort of pointless to have a shower before going to the gym. However, when I do shave in the morning after a hot shower, it is never as smooth and I notice some irritation and tugging of the blade, especially on my neck - it is like my hairs aren't as soft in the morning?! Does anyone else have a similar view or is it just me?

I shave every morning, because my work requires that I be clean shaven all day.  If I shave the night before, I won't be clean shaven by noon the next day.  I also enjoy the morning shaving ritual.    I get up early, go for a run, then shave after a shower.   In the evening, I go to the gym and shower when I get home, but don't shave then.

For most of my life I have shaved in the morning.  But ever since I've started working from home, I have gotten lazy about things.  I'll often wake up and do some work for a few hours.  And then I'll get out on the bike and shower and shave after the bike ride, which can often mean I end up showering around 4 or 5 PM.  I have to say I prefer the morning routine much more than my present one.

Nothing quite like a comfortable shave routine for me: hot shower, 3 passes, aftershaves - usually 30 minutes minimum. Like the OP chrism, if I go to the gym at 5am the shave moves to nighttime.

I much prefer a morning shave. However I only get to enjoy them during breaks in the school year. I just don’t have enough time in the morning to shave before work. When school begins again next week I’ll revert to my evening shaves, Sunday through Thursday. Friday evening my skin gets a break, and then I take a relaxing, comfortable, slow shave Saturday morning. Love my Saturday shave Biggrin

Nothing like the weekend shave! This is one of the main reasons I love this "hobby"

I have to shave for my job so I shave in the evenings Sunday thru Thursday.  I only shave on the weekends if I have to pull weekend duties.  I work out intensely in the morning and sweat a lot.  I have found that my face becomes very irritated sweating so much right after a shave.

I used to shave after work so that I was well groomed for my wife. Of course it was a great way to unwind as well. When I worked it was construction so not too concerned with grooming for the rest of the crew.
Now I'm retired so when the urge strikes I'm doing it.

For this reason I never shave before going to the gym and then I usually go straight to work afterwards, hence the need to shave in the evening.

Interesting that people don't tend to notice a difference between morning vs evening though. Maybe my water is harder in the morning or more than likely I am doing it differently.

I also shave in the evening.

I am not a morning person, so one less thing to do is good for my soul.

Also, if I nick myself during the shave, it doesn't matter if I shave at night bc it will heal by work the next day... whereas if I was to shave in the morning and nick myself before going in to work, then I'd be self-conscious about it all day.

I’m not a morning person, so shaves will ALWAYS be better when done at evening/night time for me.

Morning shave.  I am not sure which provides the most energy or good feelings - coffee or shower/shave.

I am not a morning person, however, finding time and desire in the evening is not easy.   I procrastinate on brushing my teeth in the evening much less considering a 30 minute shower and shave.

The morning is mama's time...no trespassing.
Sooo, I don't mind night shaving except the bathroom light over the mirror is of little help lol.
