Has anyone bought one of those new "Deranged" synthetic brushes for WCS?  They are very expensive for a synthetic (on sale for $131).  I was wondering if it is justified spending that much on a synthetic when you can buy a two band Thater for a little bit more.  Two band Thater being the best brush IMHO.

I think with the Deranged brush you are paying mostly for the interesting, well-made, and attractive handle.  I would expect that many a ~$20 synth would make lather equally well.  Whether the Deranged brush is worth it depends on your budget and your taste. De gustibus ...

The knot is what you will find in a $20 brush, so it depends on how much you're willing to pay for a handle.  You can get a custom synthetic brush from Bob Quinn at Elite Razor for substantially less, and it would be built to your specifications.

I used a Maggard's 24mm Plissoft synthetic over the weekend and couldn't imagine a better synthetic brush regardless of price.

If you like the handles, talk to Milton @ Turn-n-shave, you can find him on Etsy. He made the WCS handles and he can put other knots in them too. He posts brushes he makes on Etsy every other Thursday and they are way cheaper than WCS. Look him up on Instagram too if you want to see more of his work.

I just noticed that those brushes are not on sale anymore and 2/3 of them have been sold.  Everybody must be hurrying to buy those $155  "Deranged" synthetic brushes.   Huh
