Hey everyone. Does anyone know of an online based MDC retailer?

Trying to pick up a new tub as my MDC-F has just about been used up.

Thanks,

Old Town Shaving used to carry them in Pasadena, CA, but they went under earlier this year. Good luck!

I've had no issue ordering directly from MdC, on two separate occasions. The service is prompt, and the packaging is awe-inspiring (even though packaging doesn't usually matter to me).

Gifts & Care in Spain also stock MdC in a range of scents. You need to email as they are not listed on the main website. There's usually a 10% discount available, too, quoting G&C. Not sure about shipping to the USA, but to the UK, it is cheaper than buying from MdC direct.

I can't help you with your quest, but I know a number of EU based online retailers that stock MDC soaps. None of them has these soaps listed. I am 100% sure this is some type of arrangement with the company. They can sell their soaps but not online. You have to email them.

Or maybe post a WTB post in the BST. Good luck. I only knew of Old Town shaving as a US based dealer. As mentioned, they closed shop earlier this year.

Order directly from the vendor.  Just order two or more to reduce the shipping cost per soap.  You can always sell one later and still come out ahead of where you'd be had you bought only one.

+1

Great advice!  It really takes the pain off the shipping on a per unit basis.

Painfully...I mean patiently waiting for an unused one on eBay typically shaves at least the shipping and sometimes a bit of retail off!

That’s how I purchased the agrumes one, and bought both my ABCs. I actually just snagged my second and off eBay for 53 including shipping...unused!

Good luck!

Because it's not uncommon for people to order more than one at a time (due to shipping costs) and given the face that a tub lasts just about forever, you can find these on the BST fairly easily.
I'd suspect a WTB post would also be effective in finding one.

For those that have used it, is the MdC Fougere worthy of its legendary reputation?

It’s quite nice...I also have the vetyver, rose, and agrumes that I got great deals on, and really enjoy them all.

The rose is like a dark gothic type rose similar to C&S, but a little more refined.

The agrumes is a nice citrus fragrance, and it is probably the most mild of the bunch.

The vetyver is strong and wonderful...I pick up a slight nutty aspect to this fragrance!

For me, one of the top scents ever. Legendary, yes, I have to say...
It's always in season, always classy and always interesting. Hard to beat that.

I do enjoy MdC Fougère, and think that it's worth the cost. However, if you expect any soap to live up to a "legendary reputation," you'll be disappointed more times than not. Although I certainly list it as one of my Tier 3 soaps and will always have it in my rotation, some people don't care for the soap or the scent. However, I think everyone should at least try MdC Fougère.

I would LOVE to know your tier 1 soaps?

I’ve got three MdC tubs, all of which will outlive me. Fougere is king of the hill in my book, although Rose and Vetyver are also magnificent. For me, MdC is a special pleasure because of the scent and the ease of lathering. I have no soaps (out of 100 or so) that are easier to lather (although the Declaration legacy bison base comes close) or that have a better scent than Fougere. Of course, I don’t use it every day because I have many other soaps I enjoy. But I’m always happy and confident about the forthcoming shave when I pick up the jar of Fougere.

Yes. The scent is perfect, fresh and clean if that makes sense. It lasts forever, I have a jar that is theee years old and nowhere near the bottom. That said I used it exclusively for a few months, but I do also have a lot of other soaps I use more often. The initial purchase seems expensive, not the case in dollar value. I can send you a sample if you want to try itt. I have a jar that I use, and I have a lump from a split I did with a buddy, it’s in a ziplock bag in a box with my other hoard lol. PM me if you want a sample.

If you can't find MDC anywhere in the USA and don't want to deal with the overseas shipping, consider trying Nuavia.  IMO MDC and Nuavia are in the same class.  I like the scents of Nuavia better than MDC.
