I shave exclusively with SE blades, feather pro’s and pro-supers. I’ve noticed on three occasions a feather pro blade that features significant smoothness, noticibly more than average. I might chalk it up to a really great prep day or somesuch, but when this phenomena occurs the blade retains its excellent smoothness throughout the 10-shave lifespan where I’ll use differing prep, soaps, and the like.

Has anyone else run into this?

Why yes....Yes I have. It just reinforces the fact that "No two objects are the same". From the steel used, sharpening....quality controls have tolerances +/-.
Sometimes a dud gets thru and of course a superior one does too......Duds are more noticeable for QC to pickup.
