I am really surprised nobody else took advantage of that joke opportunity I provided.  LOL I finally got around to trying my iKon X3 yesterday, which I had been holding off on, while exploring other razors purchased during a newbie buying frenzy.

Even after I put a blade in it (PolSilver, btw) it shaved really nicely, smooth and close.  Yuo, I did that, squeegeed the foam off my face while thinking how utterly perfect it felt to shave as if there wasn;t even a blade there at all.....   DOH!

I got a good laugh out of it, I'm not gonna lie.  I didn't post about it because I thought the experience itself was humiliating enough!

I posted it because I thought it was pretty funny and would make people laugh and would not be offended. Otherwise I would have kept my mouth shut..   It was pretty funny and a bit of an antidote to my recent obsession

I can relate to being able to laugh at oneself. My faux pas occurred right after receiving a replated Red Tip in the mail. Gorgeous job, btw. So before using, I figured, lemme sanitize the new razor with these other razors... I know, I’ll soak ‘em in rubbing alcohol! After a few seconds later I saw blood in the water. The freshly painted RED TIP was disintegrating before my very eyes. The plating, rock solid. Paint, not so much. After a panic, I contacted the vendor (who I’m sure had a good chuckle) who told me the modern paint matches the color but is not impervious to chemical interactions. Then he said to send it back and he’d fix it up right away, and in the future, please don’t do that anymore Biggrin

Gents,

The Razorock Game Changer is quite a nice razor. I bought two and have both baseplates. The .68 is great on the face, and I was going to sell the .84 since it’s too aggressive.

However, the .84 is fantastic for head shaving, so they are both solid keepers in my book!

I hope everyone has a great day!

For my first post, I thought I might add my endorsement of the Game Changer. I also have both base plates  and use either with a Weber bulldog handle that's been around for awhile. I like both options, but tend to favor the .68 for daily shaving. My beard is old and wiry, and my skin shows the ravages of working out in every weather for many years. I tend to wind burn easily and an aggressive razor requires my best efforts to prevent the same sensation. All in all it was money well spent and I would recommend it highly.

I am not much of a Razorock guy , I liked the original soaps and not much after really had me coming back. The game changer however , .84 baseplate , is outstanding. Not only is it the best value in the high end DE market , it’s also one of the best razors I have shaved with in terms of efficiency and smoothness. I’ve owned and shaved with all the big names , GC is legit.

Completely agree with your assessment. I have previously used Razorock's Mamba, Slant, Baby Smooth, and none of them blew me away. I have also owned all the major modern razors, Above the Tie, Tradere, Blackbird, Weber, iKon, Rockwell, Timeless, Feather, etc. The Game Changer .84 baseplate is up there with the best. It is efficient, yet it won't bite. It is smooth, yet there is still some blade feel. It's a very well balanced razor. Every shave I've had with it has been BBS. It is the real deal.

I had sold mine, but I acquired a stork handle in a trade that needed a better head. So I recently bought another .84...used it yesterday, and with the right blade and a light hand...it does provide a very very nice shave. For the money it can’t be beat in my opinion, and it also punches WELL above its weight!

Enjoy!

The .84 is the only razor I've used where a light touch actually cuts the hair consistently well...and does so effortlessly. Really enjoy using it.
2-pass is perfect.

I used the .84 head on the stork titanium handle, and got another incredible shave today...totally BBS everywhere with zero weepers/irritation.

I have been using the Gillette Silver Blue blades for almost every shave over the last few weeks, and they are fantastic!

Nice call... However...
When you buy a backup, add a soap and you'll be over the free shipping mark, $60

I already have the original Game Changer. Both should last the rest of my life, I hope. I wish I had known about the free shipping at $60 before.

Then I realized that I had not actually put a blade into the X3...... oh well....

Put a Polsilver in it, relathered, and gave it a real go this time.  Pretty smooth, and did a DFS shave, more or less, with WTG and XTG passes only-no cleanup and no ATG pass-thought I would not push my luck, as I didn't have lots of stubble to begin with when I started this particular shave.

Usually just use Thayer's alcohol-free as a pst shave, but decided to try an alum black first, then the Thayers....  Not sure I'll do the alum again.

Any thoughts on using alum post-shave when you have no nicks or weepers?  I really love the feel of the Thayer's, btw.

I always use alum post shave. I like that I am disinfecting (burn sensation) an area where there was no blood but layers of skin were removed with the whiskers. also useful dring shave to give your fingers a grip on a brush, razor or soap slick skin that needs tightening before shaving. pre-shave, not a bad underarm deodorizer but remember a gentleman keeps a separate block for that purpose.

It shaves very efficiently and smoothly, but does not provide that exciting feedback and face-feel that I get from my top razors - BlackBirds First Gen. Having said that, I can get a BBS shave from the .84 GC with no drama and no blood in 3 passes and a bit of a clean up. I tried different blades and Gillette Nacet still proves to be my champion (as well as in all other DE razors that I own). I did a bit of polishing/brushing and now the head looks almost as good as my WR1. At $55 I think this razor is the best value DE on the market.

Those are very nice stands - can you please tell me what brand they are? Thanks, Ian
