Gents,

In my opinion these are ugly, unassuming, and inexpensive razors...on their face not worthy of being revered.  However, for my face, technique, and the blades I use...they are incredible incredible shavers!!!

Glad you like them.  I always take a specific 1958 Gillette Super Speed on vacation with me.  it gives me a great (if not absolutely perfect BBS) shave, and if I lose it I'm out about 10 bucks.  I wish it earned Frequent Flyer miles, because it's been around the world many times.  And not once abroad have I every looked poorly shaven.

I like the 1940's style Super Speeds, without the flared bottom.  They're good shavers for me, and I find their mechanical aspects appealing.

Ha! Funny you mention that Ricardo...I am tossing around the idea of trying out a Milord!

Yes Sir! That is also a plus with these...I am always careful, but should I drop it or scratch it...or the luggage gets lost...you are right...out a few bucks!

Now...I do something like that with my Aristocrats...and I am kicking myself!

The way you feel about your Super Speeds is the way I feel about my Red Tips and Techs. However for travel I pack a Merkur and/or a Trac II. Those you can still buy. The vintage razors just aren't made, so in my warped thinking they're irreplaceable.

The razor you are asking about looks like a 1958 TV special, I've have the same one. Check it out a little more because the picture is not to clear on my tablet.

I use my blue tip more than my other vintage models - it’s the best razor for my face and I think it looks beautiful

Definitely a 1958 "TV special."  Interesting twist (pardon the pun) on a classic.
I had a cased one at one time but sold it.
I never use a superspeed.  I should fire one up one of these days.

I like the flare tip, seems like it gives me a better shave than the 40s style which is opposite of what is generally reported. My flaretip is a TV that I use, my birth year is in a shadow box and is not used. Nice setup Matt.

I'd say those are pretty darn clean looking, nothing ugly about 'em!

For those that have used both a TV special and 'regular' flair-tip, do you notice much difference in the grip while shaving?

Thanks Ron! They are close for me, and you know I love my gold aristocrats...but the little 1965 superspeed might edge them out shave quality wise...I mean by the slightest of margins.

Pretty neat idea with the birth year in the shadow box! I don’t think anyone was making anything in 1981 that would be all that classy!

Thanks for the compliment on these ugly little rascals that shave so well I can’t get rid of them! Ha! A problem I don’t mind so much! I also don’t notice all that much of a difference in grip in my hand.

I have two 1958 t.v. Special Super Speed razors, one with a case. I've had both revamped. One was my father's the other grandpa's.
