For those interested, the agrumes, rose, and vetiver are showing on the MdC site, and there’s a better version of the English language site too.

Cheers, Steve

Wow, they have new labels for the jars with different colors. They look decent, but I prefer the original labels.

My bank still declines my purchase every time I put an order in.

Maybe it’s time for PayPal?

If someone places an order, I would be willing to go in with them to split shipping.

Why don’t you call your bank? They’ll allow it if you authorize it. They think it’s fraudulent activity, so to protect you ( and themselves) they deny the charge.

I had the same problem when I ordered some almost 5 years ago. A quick phone call solved the problem.

Bump for the MdC fougere now available in the 'brain bowl'. One of the best fougeres (the best IMO) and a totally unique presentation.

Cheers, Steve

Ah interesting, I didn't know they were still (or again) doing the brain bowls

Are these brain bowls real? How are they packaged? Actually, of late, I have domed my soaps in a similar fashion, and wow, what wonderful lather I get. Dead easy to load the brush,  and the lather is really wonderful.

They're real and they're spectacular...
Received one about five years ago along with several other MdC items. The photo is very much what you get but it will be well wrapped and boxed. After all this time I still remember the scent on opening my order. Simply amazing. My Brain Bowl is still in rotation providing great shaves. Due to age the scent has faded but is still enough to keep me happy. Even after you get below the dome and into the bowl this is one of the easiest lathering hard soaps to be found. The initial price is high but the cost per shave and performance is among the best to be found.

MdC will certainly ship to the UK, they’re actually not that far away. There’s a dealer in GB that sells MdC at decent prices English Shaving Company I think, but they don’t carry the brain bowl.

Can anyone comment on if the Original scent is as good as the Fougere?

I know its lavender forward, just wondering what some opinions are.  IMO, their Fougere is in a class by itself.

I think the Original is great, but the Fougere and Rose are a tier above, IMO.

I finished a brain bowl of the original last year and it was wonderful but the scent strength did fade. I would describe the original as lavender forward with an overall herbal vibe which is nice, but IMO, it is overshadowed by the Fougere and Rose scents.

I use mainly SV Soaps which I think are wonderful. Does anyone who likes SV soaps, as well as Mdc soaps compare their differences.

In my opinion MDC has simpler and more refined scents. In addition, MDC is easier to lather, has better slickness, and the post-shave is better.

I agree with @Ols67 and @u2u on lathering and scent. The original is a lavender-benzoin combination, but if you leave it uncovered the benzoin will fade over a few weeks and you’ll be left with a light lavender with a bit of ‘nuttiness’ from what little benzoin remains. Of course, covering a brain bowl is not really an option unless you got really creative. Same for the rose scent, it has a benzoin component that will fade and leave you with a light rose with a benzoin note.

I like the original a lot, it and the fougere are my favorites. If I had to choose, it would be tough but I’d probably go with the fougere - it’s just lovely and there’s nothing quite like it though the LASSC Black Rose is close, though about the same price/oz.

Cheers, Steve
