So, I pulled the trigger and broke a long, long period of gentlemanly restraint in buying shaving related goods.
Just received a few pics of my incoming new contribution to the den: a Black Eagle 28mm Elephant in Eagles Beak.

I enjoyed the ordering process, and the pictures provided by Black Eagle Shaving lead me to believe that I did not break my restraint for no reason.
But the proof of the pudding is of course in the eating, so the anxious waiting period has now started :-)

Congratulations Wim.  It's a beautiful brush.  Your knot is exceptionally well formed.

My idea exactly.

A great looking knot and I'd be surprised if it did not perform like a champ.

I had a few messages exchanged with Bradley, who owns Black Eagle, about knot preferences.
It seems he has totally understood my wishes, perhaps even better than I have been able to express.

You will not be disappointed. I have 3 Black Eagle brushes and they are up there with the best of them. Love to have a few more! They are exceptional!!

Did I hear correctly that the knots are being tied in house by the artisan for these brushes?

I asked them the other day. They responded “no, not at this time.”

Also, that knot looks outstanding!

He has some hand tied knots in the protype stage and I have one and they are outstanding. In the near future he will have them ready. His prefab knots are outstanding as well. They remind me of a Shavemac Silvertip 2-Band. His hand tied ones are similar to Declarations. I have a 28mm fan Warthog in Eagles Beak that is hand tied!

How long have you wait between ordering and receiving pictures from the artisan?

Well, it arrived today.
So, I guess a few days disussing the details via Facebook.
Then a week or so for making the brush. Pics were sent before knotting, and that's perfect in my book.
Delivery from South Africa to The Netherlands maybe 2 days.

I placed the order more than a month ago and haven’t heard back from him since.

Nice!

I find the build quality and the performance of the Black Eagle second to none.

Curious to learn about your mileage!
