Anybody have any info on this Star brand DE razor. It uses a regular DE blade. I had it replated in Gold because I liked the look of it. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a nickel (chrome?) plated Star DE with the beautifully knurled handle. It’s a quality shaver. Info on them is scarce. Based on the condition I’d say it’s probably from the 50s or 60s.

I have that one as well...only issue is the plating quality on the top cap...(the part that touches the blade)...mine are the nickel,aluminium and gold..(plating)

Hey! I have one of these finished in gold NOS in the original plastic container...I haven’t ever used it. Perhaps I should give it a whirl!

Thanks, Stan. Your's looks quite debonair with the gold plate.

Harvey, has the plating deteriorated since you've owned the razors, or has it remained static?

@Harvey,

“mostly on the Silver colored one...seems to be pitted and peeling...only razor I have seen with such lousy plating”

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll be sure to dry it thoroughly after each use. So far I see no plating issues. I just recently acquired the razor and enjoy admiring it as it sits on my shelf. Besides it’s funky uniqueness, it shaves so damn well!
