Hi Nook folks! Have fallen down the wet shaving hole and am glad I'm not alone.

I inherited my dad's old shaving kit: in it still survives a partially used puck of Taylor of Bond St. Sandlewood, a "major" travel brush--a tiny Rubberset travel brush in box--and an unbranded larger brush and stand. No razor survived--but I've recently picked up a birch Rocca Muhle and a older Edwin Jagger.

Opening that jar of Sandlewood soap is an instant time machine: takes me right back to watching my dad lather up in the morning, preparing for work. I don't open the jar much, but when I do--it's kind of like having him back.

Now I'm just slowing figuring out what works for me, what feels and smells good--what doesn't. I've added one nice synthetic, one boar and one horse hair brush to the selection--see how they run compared to the old badger brush of dad's. Having a pretty fun time, but I've already gotten too many soaps and creams!

Welcome! I'm sure the amount of soaps you have will diminish by at least 50% just by reading on the forum  Rolleyes

I can already tell that I'm going to have a problem with soaps & creams. I ordered two more today!

I think it's great you have your father's kit, minus the razor. I must have felt the same after discovering my dad's razor in a tool box and then plating it with Rhodium in his honor.
Thanks for the intro nice to meet you and have fun shaving.
