Dear gents,

We are very proud to present the uniquely handmade Portuguese shaving scuttle that goes by the codename "Estremoz"!

Experience superb lather produced in this shaving scuttle, for a luxurious shave.
How does it works? By filling the scuttle with hot water, it will keep the temperature within the bowl where you can place shaving cream or soap and produce excellent lather with your shaving brush.

"Estremoz" is a small city of Portugal - It is wordly known not only for it's marble, but as well for it's superb clay.

"It's the land where you find the most exquisite
and loved red clay of all Portugal"
Cosme de Médicis

Handmade by a talented craftsman, it would only seem natural to have this characteristic name, as it expresses the high traditional value of Portuguese clay work and handicraft.

Features:

  • Handmade
  • High quality glazed clay
  • Separate bowl from base for easier filling / cleaning
  • Maintains temperature for longer times
  • Inside details help producing better lather
  • Food safe - go ahead and eat some Portuguese "Caldo Verde" in it!

Approximate Dimensions:

10cm | 4'' High
16cm | 6.6'' Wide
Inside Bowl:
11cm | 4.3'' larger diameter
4cm | 1.6'' base diameter

I like that color. It looks like a two piece Dirty Bird Scuttle.

That was the same artisan that made an edition for the Portuguese forum, and that I've showed up here.

An excellent piece of craftsmanship. I highly recommend it.

.....beautiful beautiful scuttle.....

.......went to the site to see about ordering one.....

....but the shipping (with tracking) was almost $38. and the scuttle is on sale for only $25......

......it is a shame that the high shipping cost blows it out of the water (at least for me)...

Thanks for all the comments, guys! I'm glad you all like it.

Thanks Oversaturn for the quote update! I'll change the name to the correct one!

It should hold it for quite some time, at least for the whole shave. Of course if you happen to live in a very cold place, it wont last as long as in a hotter environment. But even then, i trust it to hold longer than a common shave (10-15min). I've tried to fill mine today and just let it be for a while, and after 20min the bowl was still warmer than the air around it, and here is around 29ºC inside home!

Indeed, the heavy weight of the scuttle (approx 1300g) makes it quite costly to ship out worldwide, which is unfortunate. However, up to around 1900g you wont pay anything else for shipping, so a few more goodies can hop in Smile

Indeed they are! We did not have a major amount of them, however i was not expecting such a big acceptance.

Slantman, Thank you very much, i believe you were the second last one to purchase!!

I added a small note to the page - We're currently starting out a new process of producing a new edition, which we'll call the 2nd edition, as it will probably have some inscriptions, and who knows, additional colours. So far, since these ones are gone, you're free to make a pre-order - just a note for whenever they are ready again, we'll let you know of it.

As for new colours, as it seems to be of general interest, i'd be happy to hear your opinions on the matter.

Thanks to everyone who showed such a great interest!

Thanks guys!

Indeed, they sold out pretty fast which was great, of course.

We're now starting the production for more scuttles - Beside the one you already know, there will possibly be a dark green one - similar to the green of the Semogue 1305 brush. They will also feature some inscriptions displaying the name of the scuttle and that is made in Portugal - Who knows, this can open some nice opportunities for other models as well.

I'll be posting here more about the production state!

Thanks!

Received my two piece scuttle yesterday and tried it out this morning. Works very well and large. The largest brushes should fit this bowl easily. It looks exactly like the picture shown on the website.
