I bought a puck some years ago from our host Bullgoose, and recently noticed that it was time to order more (large rotation).  So it was with disappointment I read that it had been discontinued.  Undeterred, and with the leisure time available to the retired, I looked around and found some for sale - at their website.  I suspected the company hadn't updated or something, but I enjoy the soap enough I placed an order, expecting it to be rejected for out of stock or somesuch.  Next day I received a shipping notice, in FOUR days (4) I received the puck with a classy gift bag full of ABC samples.  Four days from Milan, Italy to near Milan, Michigan.  The wrapper has changed slightly, but the ingredients list remains the same.

Reporting just in case anyone else was discouraged by the news of a product's demise - reminds me somewhat of the multiple deaths of Floid Blue .. and also as a shout out to ABC

Thanks for posting the info. on ABC hard soap. I'm still working on a large brick that I purchased from them years ago, prior to it being available in puck form in the US. I think many people preferred the performance of the ABC cream (a firm croap), over the soap, leading to it being discontinued on many sites. I still consider ABC cream and soap, and their other products, about as good as it gets.

ABC is in a league of its own. I am nearing the end of my ABC puck too. With so many truly great domestically manufactured artisan choices (CRSW, Al's, Lisa's, Stirling, Shannon's, Wholly Kaw, LA Shaving, Mike's Uncle Jon's, Catie's, Black Ship, Declaration Grooming, Eleven, Maggard's, Soap Commander, Through the Fire, WSP, Chiseled Face, Damn Handsome, etc...) I don't know when I may go for a trans-Atlantic shipment. But then again there's SSAD which knows no borders/boundaries.

I use and love the ABC soap/croap, but have never used the hard soap.  Has anyone used both and how does the soap compare to the cream?

Thanks!!

It is still listed on their website and shows an 'Add To Cart' button.

I have both. The hard soap is as good as the cream. The only differences that I can tell is that it's harder (duh) and it doesn't have the cherry note like the cream, just almond. It's also cheaper or was when you could occasionally find it in the US, and the hard soap is 125g and the cream is 100ml. Soap is lighter than water, so the cream is probably about 90-95g.

Hard soap ingredients - quite simple and 'clean':
Stearic Acid, Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucufera Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (sweet almond oil), Parfum, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Carbonate.

Cream ingredients - exactly the same.

Cheers, Steve

I'v read on a forum that the hard soap had no scent, whereas the cream spreads almond scent (but no cherry notes ever mentioned).

My hard soap came directly from ABC in 2015, and it had almost no scent to it wheras the cream I also bought has a sweet almond scent, some what clsoe to Cella, but a tad less sweet though.

I think the cream performs better than the soap, but the soap is a pretty good performer too, but neither are in my Top 10 these days of best performing soaps.

ABC in my view is beaten performance wise by these:

B&M
CRSW
Jabonman
Caties Lux
Tabula Rasa
Nuavia
LPL
Sapo Varesino
Klar Seifen
Valobra Tallow
Mike's Natural
Tabac
Boellis Panama
SDM

I like Cella better than ABC at a fraction of the cost.

Well, the point of my original post was don't believe everything you read in a forum .. but  ..

The original ABC hard soap I had has a distinct, though muted, almond scent ala Cella as someone has mentioned or the old P160 (that's out for tonight).  My smeller was impacted by 38 years of Marlboro's, followed by the chemotherapy, but it I can still smell the soap, in a good way for me anyway.

My understanding, which could be wrong, was that the softer cream (croap) was discontinued but the hard soap is still available.

They’re both still available - the cream is sold here and there in the US and the hard soap is available from the ABC site (and the cream of course). Probably the best place to buy the cream is Gifts and Care.

Sorry, but I'm not buying new soaps or creams for a loooooooooooooooooooooooooong time - still have more than 150-200 creams and soaps in my den, that I need to use up first.

Thanks for setting me straight on that. I tried to search for what I had read and only found that certain sites were no longer carrying one or both.
