I've whittled down my soaps to just three and see no need to wander anymore.
I've found nothing else compares so no need to waste money on cheaper lower performing soaps that don't go as far.

MDC Vetyver
Castle Forbes Lime
Baum.be

Well......................maybe some MDC Fougere as well lol

Those are three very good choices. Your fourth choice is even better...

I like that it is a small family business, I have two of them and I like them both.

The Vetiver will be joining my other two shortly. I may profit from SimpleShave 17s regret and order two. I have a number of other excellent soaps that are seeing increasingly less use, for me MDC simply stands alone at the top.

I like it and have vetyver and an extra jar of lavender on the way. Here's a tip, if you don't like the benzoin that much just leave the lid off and it will mostly dissipate in few weeks leaving you with a very nice (but faint) sweet lavender with a slightly 'nutty' component. I found that out using a 'brain bowl' which of course has no lid.

Cheers, Steve

Admittedly, at first the benzoin was strange to me, more so in the soap samples they always send along where it really stands out. I've come to actually like it over time, it's become just another quality of this soap that I admire. Soaps that don't have it, now seem lacking something that really should be there.

Yeah I have the benzoin bath soap and it’s quite nice - the benzoin by itself is a little different from the blends.

Gents,

I used MDC Rose soap today, and then used the Eufros Dama De Noche Aftershave Balm...truly the best shave/post-shave I have ever had thus far!

Dynamite combination!

Can any of you gentlemen comment on the unscented? If it is a fairly straightforward benzoin scent without added fragrance, it may be on my next purchase. So far I have the Original, and the Fougere which are both superb, however an unscented appeals to me as well.

The unscented has no benzoin, and the fougere has none or very little.

I would enjoy hearing any favored aftershave parings for the MDC Vetiver, if anyone would care to share.

Does MdC Vetiver have the benzoin? Also, regarding the fragrance of Vetiver, I've tried several soaps and creams and have found that out of them all, I seem to like the fragrance of Salter's French Vetiver cream the best by a country mile. With this in mind, I'm hoping someone who's used them both can post their opinion of the scent of MdC Vetiver vs. the scent of Salter's.  Anyone?  Smile

I don’t believe that the vétiver has benzoin but I’ve only tried a sample a while back. I have a tub arriving Friday and I’ll post my impressions.

I am a fan of Saponificio varesino soap.  Can anyone compare the two, if used SV . If not,, can anyone 'sell 'me Mdc soaps.
